With summer quickly
approaching, we are making so many plans for weekend getaways, beach playdates
and various fun things to celebrate the season.
We fill our calendars with events that its easy to forget about the
chores at home. But I absolutely hate
hanging around a dirty house, especially since I work from home most of the
time. So I’ve deceived to cancel all my
plans and dedicate one day a week to completely organizing and cleaning up all
the messes at home. That typically
includes a grocery run to Costco, laundry, closet
clean-up, dishes and the typical chaos that comes with having a toddler.

This week, on my Costco run, I picked up some reinforcements. These guys from Procter & Gamble will help me keep this
place in tiptop shape.
place in tiptop shape.
The first on the
to-list (and the biggest bain of my existence) is laundry. I am not a fan. I usually like to do a big load once week and
one or two smaller loads throughout the week as needed, especially for John’s
and Jaxson’s clothes. I’m reminded
constantly how boys are so much dirtier than girls just by the laundry they
accumulate. How does one get so stinky
and attract so many stains? Anyway, I
digress. To keep their clothes fresh,
clean and stain-free, I use Tide
Advanced Power detergent. Just as strong as bleach products, but without
the damage of bleach itself. I love the clean, floral scent too. But again, boys are dirty. Sometimes I need a little extra boost to make
stinky clothes smelling brand new again.
Downy Fresh
Protect is the best. I recently
discovered this amazing product and have been adding it to every load. They are like little beads you add into the
wash along with detergent. It is like
deodorant for your clothes, and especially perfect for our workout clothes!

Once laundry is done,
I usually like to tackle Jaxson’s play area in our living room. We spend most
of our time in the living room so it gets pretty crazy. I try to keep his toys
clean as much as possible to keep the sick germs away. I’ll usually just spray some Honest all
purpose cleaner (safe for kids!) on a Bounty Advanced paper
towels. I love that you can tear off
different sizes and extra absorbanpcy for all those spills that invetibly
happens. Jaxson also discovered he loved
to write on paper…and on walls. So I will usually do a quick scrub down of our
walls with Mr. Clean
Magic Eraser.

At this point in my
day, I’m usually over cleaning. Ha! So
I’ll just do a quick run-through of all other surfaces with the Swiffer Duster. This little tool picks up all those little
dust bunnies with just one swipe. I am obsessed with it. I keep one in every room!

We actually have a
cleaning crew come every other week for a real deep clean, but I feel like
having this routine of my own complementary cleanup has really helped me get
organized in all areas of my life. It’s
crazy how productive I am in other things when my house is spick and span.

How do you get ready
for summer?
for summer?
