This red coat is on repeat. Its light but keeps me warm…perfect for California weather. I bring it out every year since its goes with everything! And you guys already know how I feel about OTK boots. 🙂
We decided at a ripe age of 2 months Baby J should start to travel. We wanted to start slow. Hey, why not a road trip. So the day after Christmas we ventured off to Northern California. Our first stop, Napa! The 7 hour drive was a bit ambitious, we know! But we did it and Baby J was a trooper and I even think he enjoyed it.
Overall I would say the trip was a success. We travel to Napa at least once every year and we understood this time it would be different. We just have other considerations now, like these….
Be Flexible: This was #1. No matter how hard we tried to plan the day, timing is out of our control now. So just go with it. Because the baby might spit up 2 times and leave BIG surprises in his diaper right as we’re about to head out the door. Instead of starting the day at 10 like you’d hope, it might be closer to Noon.
Functional vs. Luxury: Gone are the days of booking hotels with great views, spa amenities or chic ambiance. For this trip, we chose accommodations based on which had a microwave and washer/dryer. Let me tell you, there are not many options to choose from! Luckily, we did find one, Vino Bello Resort. It was a hit and miss…more on that later!
Baby Laundry vs. French Laundry: Dining at a 5-Star restaurant? HA! No even a glimmer of hope. French Laundry {if we ever got reservations there anyway} would have to wait. Dinners included anything to-go or room service while I do a load of onesies and burp clothes.
Naturally our next adventure would be on a plane…and then we might even tackle somewhere international. I’ll share more details soon. 🙂
XO, Lydia
