Keeping on a regular fitness routine has never been my strongest ability. The task is a million times harder when I travel. I heavily debate whether or not I should bring my sneakers, I feel guilty if I don’t, solidifying that I definitely will not be exercising, but also feel guilty if I do knowing the chances I’ll actually use it is low, and thus, wasting much needed luggage space. *sigh* You all know the struggle.
But nevertheless, I usually do end up packing workout gear and feeling good about myself. Whether or not I make it to the hotel gym, I do at least try get in a morning walk around the hotel grounds or surrounding areas. Depending on how motivated I’m feeling that day or how cold it is, we’ll spend anywhere from 20-30 walking around. It also a good way for us to scout out nearby spots for photos. Even a short 20-minute walk is better than nothing! Starting the day with a bit of fresh air and burst of energy will also help jetlag and relief a little bit of the guilt of eating so much pasta. 🙂
We also try to walk as much as possible throughout the day while sightseeing. It can be challenging because we have Jaxson, and often a stroller in tow, we just do the best we can.
If you have a activity tracker like my Kate Spade one, it is helpful to set a daily steps goal to keep motivated. I set my goal at 20,000 steps per day and was really surprised how fast I hit my goal. I had to up it to 35,000 after a few days. The best part of this activity tracker is that I can add a goal for drinking water too, which is especially helpful when I travel. I love that the band is simple, and the scallop detail so stylish. This would definitely make a great gift for fitness (or travel) junkie in your life!
