On New Year’s Eve, we woke up and decided we wanted to do a little driving. And John wanted to do a little wine tasting. So we ended up driving to Santa Barbara! Sounds random, I know. But if you know us well, you know that we love going up to SB area.
There was no traffic AT ALL so it only took us 2 hours to get there. No traffic passing through Los Angeles is unheard of. We packed a light bag just in case our little road trip idea took us somewhere overnight. Which it did. But we didn’t know if we would get a hotel room on such short notice, and on NYE no less. But we lucked out. No traffic and an amazing hotel – major score!! We took it as a sign from God that he was blessing our little getaway. ha!

It was nice actually to do something spontaneous. I don’t get much of a chance theses days because we have to plan around naps, meals, diaper changes, etc. And fortunately SB is easy to get to for us and its one of the most beautiful places in California.
Since the wineries and tasting rooms closed early that day, we only had time to visit a couple places. One of which was Foxen. They have the best pinots and tasting areas are family-friendly. We’ve been wine club members there for a couple years now, so its nice to visit and taste for free! We also stopped in Los Olivos. If you’ve never been, go! Its the most charming little town with tasting rooms galore. Everything is so cute like you’re in an episode of Gilmore Girls.
We did an early dinner at Hitching Post. We also got lucky with a table. But then again who goes to dinner at 4:30pm?! Umm, only people with kids like us! Baby J was so good on the trip. He was chill and just enjoyed being outdoors. He is such a good little traveler!
The weather was perfect! Sunny but cool enough for a light jacket so this cozy faux fur pink coat was a good choice. Here are some photos from our day. Scroll down for outfit details!
