Happy Monday. My weekend was busy busy, but it was a great one. Jaxson turned 2 years old so we were busy spoiling him with love. I’ll share more from our weekend tomorrow….but today, I wanted to share some photos from a date night look. We managed to get out of the house for a couple hours this weekend sans bébé, and I thought I would dress up for the occasion. 🙂 Its actually been awhile since I dressed up to go out so it was nice.
Trends inevitably come back around time and again. The good ones at least. Back from the 90s, the slip dress was the ultimate cool girl red carpet staple of Hollywood’s it girls. But I wasn’t really old old enough to wear it then, or wear with any sense of style. This time around, I definitely wanted to give it a shot. And luckily for us, the trend has been embraced by many labels and retailers, giving us plenty of options at various price points. This burgundy slip dress from Nordstrom is around $50 which is the ideal price range to test out a new trend in my book. And it is definitely a winner! The material is soft with a slight stretch, and has a gorgeous lace slit and hem detail.
I really love the layered look with slip dresses. Over tee shirts, collared shirts, or under blazers and so many different ways. I had intended to wear to this dress with a bow blouse from J.Crew…but it was like 1000 degrees outside, and layering was just not possible. I did, however, bring a staple leather jacket to wear over my shoulders to class it up a bit. Having the option to remove layers is key in this Fall heatwave we’re having. Love this moto jacket from Bernardo. The brand makes the best outerwear and this caramel biker jacket is not exception. I always keep this guy on standby (in my car usually) because it goes with everything!!
