San Francisco is one of my favorite cities in the world. Partly because its close to home (hour flight and 7 hour drive), and mostly because the city is a good mix of the bustling urban jungle of NYC and easy coastal vibes of southern California. It meets the needs of many traveler desires.
On this trip, since Jaxson was with us, we didn’t do much of anything. We took strolls around the most charming neighborhoods, ate at local eateries and enjoyed the various parks to tire out the little one. Again, nothing much to write home about but chill lackadaisical days.
On the drive to the city from Napa, we stopped to watch the sunset in the Marin Headlands with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. But it was windy, cold and the fog started the fill the air. The views were still amazing but we could only stay out for about 15 minutes because it got too cold and we were not dressed for the severe drop in temps (from Napa’s 80 degrees).
We also visited the Painted Ladies area (also known as the Full House house). There is a cute park overlooking the street which would have been perfect for a quick picnic and Jaxson to run around, but it was closed!!! I’m not really sure why…the whole park was fenced off. I was bummed, but couldn’t leave without taking a photo since we took an Uber all the way out there! While you can’t really tell its the famous row of houses from Full House, the pastel color homes still made for a good photo op.
As for the outfits, I’m sure its no surprise to you that I wore dresses almost my whole trip. But had I known it was going to be chilly in SF, I might have packed differently, but I think I got by OK with light jackets over my dresses. I always pack a classic trench coat and a trendier piece on trips. Trenches go with everything, and a chic draped jacket like this blush one from Bernardo is great for outfits that require a bit more statement while providing warmth on cooler evenings. The leather and suede combo feels so soft and looks just as luxurious in person. It is such a great piece for day or night!
