Friday Favorites: Best of #MomLife

Happy Friday all!  I am so excited for the weekend.  And so is Little J.  ☺
I’m sharing more pics of him in today’s post in honor of Mother’s Day.  He is absolutely the light of my life and I am so grateful to be his mommy. Every mom says that, right?  But no, I really am grateful.  I don’t know what I did to deserve this child. God is so good!  He really knows what you need  and when you need it.  His timing and plan is always perfect, and I am reminded of that when I look at Jaxson.
I don’t talk about Little J here as much as I use it.  I really struggle between his overexposure on a public forum, and the desire every little bit of his cuteness.  But I do love to talk about my experiences as a mom.  In today’s installment of Friday Favorites, I’m sharing the 5 reasons why I love being his mama.
1. He lets me sleep! – Little J takes after me in the sleeping department.  He never really had a sleep regression.  The only time he didn’t sleep well was during the first 6 weeks of life (expected!), experiencing jetlag in Europe and when he’s sick (also expected!).  Other than that, he’s all about naps and bedtime.   This is the ultimate blessing as a mom.  I went back to work full-time when he was 6 months old and juggled this blog, and there would have been no way I could have done it all if he wasn’t sleeping well.  It should be noted that I did do some things to encourage good sleeping, but part of it is probably innate too.  For those interested, I did incorporate a little bit of Babywise method.
2. He loves being on the go! – Again like me, he loves to be out and about. It made traveling to Europe with him pretty easy.  No matter how hungry or tired he gets, if he’s outside seeing the sights or in the middle of the action, he’s all good!
3. He has helped me refocus my goals and perspective on life! – Without him I would still probably be stuck in a desk job and living day to day just to survive and get to the weekend.  Once he arrived, I realized everything I did had to matter.  In part because some things took time away from him, but also because I know someday I would have to answer to his curiosity about the decisions I made and certain events in my life.  I want to be an example to him and have successes to share.  Frankly, I want to be an example of the kind of woman he should marry one day.  Simple as that.  He gave me the courage to explore a passion (this blog!), which by God’s grace has become a career!
I also reconsidered the environment and the people I choose to surround myself with.  I no longer had time to gossip and do/talk about nonsensical things.  I wanted to be around encouragement, faith and inspiring people.
4. He is such the snuggle bug! – He loves to lay close and touch his head to my chest or shoulder whenever possible.  It’s the best thing on the planet.
5. He is my physical, real life display of accomplishment.  Nothing mattered before him.  So proud to be his mama!
Of course, being a mom doesn’t come without a set of challenges so I want to keep it real and tell you I’ve had MANY challenges as well.  But I’ll save that for a future post!!!
Wishing you all a great Mother’s Day weekend!
