I am sure most would agree, that the Fall season always seems to be super busy. What gets put on the backburner for us is date night. I mean, I forget that what that even is! But recently the stars align for us to head out on a dinner date, with a last minute babysitter included! I think it took us all of 10 mins before we were out the door!
Again, since it’s been so long since we’ve been on a night out, we had a running list of restaurants we’ve been dying to try. On the top of the list was Del Frisco’s Grille. I had heard great things about the menu and could not wait to try EVERYTHING. Maybe we were too hungry or too excited, but we literally ordered everything.
We arrived on the earlier side of dinner, so just sat at the bar for a little while until our table was ready. I asked the bartender for a recommendation and he suggested a newer item on the cocktail menu called Ocean Sunset. I was sold when I saw that it had St-Germain liquor in it!
When got seated at a table on the patio and it was so nice! There is a big fireplace and lounge style seating that made the ambiance so cozy and comfortable. Our server, Sean, was amazing and was so passionate about his recommendations, we had to try every single one them. If you think I’m exaggerating, here is everything we ordered: cheesesteak eggrolls, artichoke beignets, wild mushroom flatbread, kale & brussel sprout salad, coffee-braised pork shank, cheeseburger, and the prime ribeye!
My favorites were the cheesesteak eggrolls (crunchy, juicy with just the right amount of spice), kale & brussel sprout salad and the cheeseburger. John loved the steak and pork shank. If you’re a meat lover, you won’t be disappointed at Del Frisco’s Grille. With a steak, we couldn’t forget about the wines! We decided to try out a bottle of Del Frisco’s Grille private wine blend. The rich red was surprisingly quite delicious, reminiscent of the bold red wines of Napa Valley. John is a bit of wine snob so when he likes wine, I know it’s good! Our server recommended it as a good wine to pair with richer foods, and he was right, as he was with his recommendations all night!
And I can’t forget about dessert. As a self-proclaimed dessert connoisseur myself, I am rarely blown away by restaurant offerings. BUT THE NUTELLA BREAD PUDDING…is beyond! If you love nutella, and even if you don’t, this dessert is enough to convince you to come back to Del Frisco’s Grille. It is light, flavorful and perfectly moist! And the coffee ice cream topping is a refreshing touch of added flavor.
We obviously overestimated our appetites, so we called our babysitters (my cousin and her husband) to bring Little J and stay awhile to help us finish off all this deliciousness! The restaurant is actually perfect for large group and even kids. With little J fully entertained (with crayons and my phone), we stayed awhile, ordered another bottle of Del Frisco’s Grille wine and just enjoyed the beautiful November evening!
There are 24 Del Frisco’s Grille restaurants around the country, and 3 in Southern California (for my LA girls). If you’re looking for a good spot for date night, a holiday dinner party or just to grab drinks, Del Frisco’s Grille will not disappoint. The menu is broad and comprehensive enough to fit a variety of taste buds. We actually have friends coming into town next week and have plans to take them there for dinner. I can’t wait!
