With Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about my necessities for the perfect outfit. I don’t like to get too dressy for dinners with friends and family, but I still want a slightly elevated look. To take things up a notch without getting too formal, I went to one of my favorite destinations for refined style – Bloomingdale’s. Bloomingdale’s has a wide variety of price points and carries all my favorite brands, so I knew they wouldn’t let me down when putting together the perfect look for Thanksgiving dinner.
I think there are three core items you need to achieve that ‘cool but not trying too hard’ look we all want for the holidays. Here they are:
Elevated pants
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of jeans as much as any other girl, but to step it up just a bit, you want something more special. Cue this pair of velvet denim from NYDJ at Bloomingdale’s. It burgundy basically goes with everything this time of year, so I know I’ll get lots of wear out of this piece.
Printed Sweaters
Because the black pants and a classic jacket are classic and subdued, I think keeping adding fun print or statement jewelry will really elevate my holiday style. While I’ll probably leave the reindeer sweaters at home, I think a bolder (but still neutral) animal print sweater or layering piece would keep the ensemble playful yet chic. And if you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I can never say no to a good leopard print.
