Date night out of the house are far and few between for us. We keep early bedtime for Little J, so we get the evenings to ourselves. Usually take includes cooking dinner, some wine and a good movie (or show marathon). It works for us, and truthfully I would rather be make-up free and in comfy clothes most evenings anyway.
Once in awhile though, we do go out on the town. John had meetings in SD on Friday so I decided to come along and make it into a fun afternoon date. He ended up working a little later than than expected so we decided to stay the night and turn it into an impromptu quickie getaway. It was so fun to just be spontaneous. We had dinner and stumbled upon a super cute speakeasy type wine bar called Vin a Syrah, which apparently turns into a club! They played the best music, and we ended up staying at “da club” until 1AM!!! I can’t tell you the last time I stayed out that late dancing. We had the best time!
Spontaneity is not a luxury parents have, so it was nice to feel care-free again. Luckily Jaxson was staying with my sister so it wasn’t a big deal to keep him over night. Let me tell you…having family nearby when you have kids is the biggest blessing there is.
I wore this metallic slip dress with my favorite moto jacket. I’ve actually had this dress for quite some time, but never found the opportunity to wear it. Dinner and dancing seemed like the perfect occasion. It was still cold and overcast from all the rain we’ve been having so layering with a mock turtleneck was essential. Also, good news…the high slit in the front made it easy to show off my dance moves {ha! yeah right}.
