This year is my second Mother’s Day and I am so excited about it. I love it more than my birthday for a couple reasons. First, it celebrates my biggest accomplishments (birthing & raising a human), and second, I get to share it with the best community of people on the plant, other moms. This tee from Ily Couture describes exactly how I feel about being a mom. I earn battle scars (both literal and figurative) and experience the biggest joys, pains, happiness, pride and love I will ever know. Mom life is indeed the best life. I paired this tee with the prettiest lilac floral skirt from Morning Lavender shop and pink faux leather jacket to complete the ultimate feminine chic look!
I’ve had a lot of great examples of motherhood in my life, starting of course, with my own mom. So I love getting to celebrate her too! This week I’ll have a ton of Mother’s Day festivities – lunch with my mother-in-law, brunch with my mom and sister, and hopefully a little something for moi. 🙂
Which brings me to my wishlist! You would expect me to have a giant laundry list of the latest and best in designer bags or shoes. And usually I would. But this year, I started thinking about how blessed I was with everything I have, and encouraged myself to be truly content. Yes we all could use more of this or a little bit of that. But we could also have way less, and to be perfectly honest, I probably have more than I deserve.
What I want more of is non-material or tangible. It is time! Time with my family to experience and really enjoy this life that God has given us. So this year, I asked the hubbs for a little getaway. A place where we can enjoy some time off, away from regular obligations of the household. I gave him a couple destinations within a short drive that we could easily escape to for a couple days. I think he’s into it. But like everything he does, he has to think about it, research it and evaluate its cost/benefit. Ha! So we’ll see…I’ll definitely keep you posted.
