3 Things to do in Anaheim

This post is sponsored by Visit Anaheim.  All opinions are my own.

I’ve mentioned this before…but this year its been harder and harder for us to find time to get away.  So we’ve been really enjoying sneaking off to quick weekend staycations whenever we can.  You might remember we did Catalina and Cambria recently.

Last month, we ventured a little closer to home.  In fact, just a quick 30-45 minutes away (sans traffic!)…to Anaheim.  I don’t think the city needs any introduction.  And you need a reminder, two words:  Disneyland and Angels.  YES, Anaheim in the home of Mickey’s playground and the Angels baseball team.

To be honest, outside of those two places, we have rarely explored the city.  So I was excited to get the opportunity to stay the weekend at Hilton Anaheim and really see what the city has to offer.  And I came away wondering why we don’t get out to Anaheim more frequently.

My first tip is…2 days is definitely not enough time to enjoy the city!  But whether you have two days or two weeks, here are my 3 things not to miss in Anaheim:

  1. Disneyland – A trip to Anaheim is never complete without a stop to the Disney parks. It is, after all, the happiest place on earth! While that amusement parks can easily take a day or 2 to fully explore, if you stay close to the park, it makes it more convenient to come early and stay late.  If you can, try to book a reservation for Character dining.  We had dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen and had the best time.  Let’s just say Little J was not the only one super excited to see Mickey and Goofy up close.  🙂
  2.  Packing District – This place is a foodie’s paradise.  From sushi, to pizza, to BBQ and boba…The Anaheim Packing District has it all.  I ate japanese food from Orange TEI, John and Jax had pho noodle soup from Sawleaf, and we topped off our cravings with smoothies and boba from Snow Monster.  It was amazing!  The building is historic and the interior is bright and designed for the uber Instagrammer.  I love that the place is suitable everybody, from the type of foods to the ambiance.  It is really is nice place to hang out on your own or with large groups.
  3. Anaheim MAKE – Adjacent to the Packing House is the AnaheimMAKE, which is home to UNSUNG BREWERY, Pali Wine Co. and soon to come also a distillery all complimented with Jav’s BBQ.  This was our last stop during our Anaheim visit and was our favorite!  John loves craft beers and I love wine, and we got to do a little of both.  And I just love the clean and artistic decor of the MAKE building.  It is a little less kid friendly than other destinations, but they have a gorgeous outdoor seating area that would suit families well.  It just so happens that day we were there the weather was nearing 100 degrees, so we had to entertain Little J in other ways inside. Luckily I brought over some treats from the Packing House!

Also, one of the best things about Anaheim is its proximity to other areas of OC.  The city is such a great home base to Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach or other amusement parks like Knott’s.  But know there is plenty to do in the city!  We can’t wait to go back soon.
